I learned what needlework was when I was young. I could knit and crochet at an early age. Later I made my own clothes. I would like to show you some of the needlework I have made in recent years.
During Covid
lived alone for six weeks during the COVID pandemic. After work, I needed to find something to keep me busy, because I’ve never liked watching TV. I decided on needlework. I already had several porcelain-headed dolls by then. I thought I’d dress them in new outfits. So I got started. I knitted, crocheted, and hand-sewed the clothes.

With my grandchildren
There was a time when my grandchildren were with me every weekend. Needlework came in handy again. I started crocheting little girls’ dresses, then cardigans. If they were lacking, I would also make slippers. Sometimes I even tried shoes. I wondered if I could make it happen?

In my retirement years
I’m spending my retirement years alone now. Needleworks help me even at a time like this. I’m always drawn to challenges. That’s why I try my hand at things you don’t see very often. One example is the purple floral cardigan. Another unique piece is the mandala rug I crocheted from wool I spun myself. I’ve even tried working with the fur from my daughter’s Akita dog. This activity is called Chiengora.

I almost forgot about the crocheted boxes. They’re not perfect, but they’re mine.

Special needlework
Macramé
When I was young, I made a lot of macramé flower pots. Unfortunately, they got lost during the many moves. Here I will illustrate what they were like with a video.
Bead weaving
This is a recent hobby. It requires an awful lot of beads and even more patience. Unfortunately, I chose the size of the beads so badly that later I could not use the right tool to finish it. Among them is a picture of a row of cats or a portrait of a horse. But you can also find a white tiger’s eye here.

Tatting
This is the most special needlework. You can make it with a long needle or with a special tool called a “boat” or tatting. I tried the latter. It is a very, very difficult technique. I tried only the first stitch for 2 weeks. I could not make any progress with it. In the end, I only made a few earrings. But there is still a lot to learn.
