My children are all talented

I have three children – twin sons and a daughter. Each of them is talented in their own way.

One of my sons is a true Volvo enthusiast

As a little boy, he used to take everything apart. Now he can put things back together too. Once, he received a very old Volvo as payment for helping someone — and it changed his life. Since then, Volvos have filled his life. He wakes up and goes to bed thinking about them. He can even align a Volvo wheel exactly onto a 200-forint coin.

My daughter started drawing at the age of 14

She never studied art formally, and no one taught her. When she was in 8th grade and her homeroom teacher heard she wanted to apply to an art school, she advised her to take a preparatory course first. She went to the art teacher, who simply said: “That level of talent could only be ruined by lessons.”
She applied to the art school… but wasn’t accepted. Later we learned that they rarely accept anyone on the first try – they look for persistence. But my daughter took it as a sign of failure and stopped everything. She hasn’t drawn since.

My other son dreamed of painting trucks since early childhood

I think he saw a movie with beautifully painted trucks – that’s probably where the inspiration came from. I wasn’t happy about this career path, as we had just come out of the socialist era, and I didn’t think there was any demand or money in it in Hungary. My son listened to me and applied to a different school. But the passion remained, and he began learning the airbrush craft on his own. And the world has changed. He’s now been doing it for nearly 20 years. He paints anything from tiny nails to 8-meter-high walls.
