Since joining the Vig-Village community, I’ve had the chance to explore many types of chatrooms.
Bridge-Audio, combines reading, listening, and thoughtful conversation.
Each week, Mr. Vig, the founder of Vig-Village, selects seven articles for us — usually something insightful. What makes this chatroom unique is that the articles are available both in written and audio form, so we can read or listen to them — or both.
Not only that, but we can access each articles for a full week, which allows us to revisit and reflect on them as many times as we like.
Then, during the chatroom session, the native speaker (hostess) guides the discussion. Usually, they select one or two key parts from one of the articles, and first we discuss them together.
Afterwards, we move into breakout rooms, where we can share personal thoughts, reactions, or even questions.
The conversations are never forced. Even if I don’t fully understand every word, I always feel welcome to participate.
The Bridge-Audio Chatroom takes place twice a week:
- Wednesdays from 8:00 to 9:00 PM (CET)
- Thursdays from 7:00 to 8:00 PM (CET)
Each session is hosted by a different native speaker (on Wednesday Jessica, on Thurstday Beth), which brings fresh perspective and variety.
For me, this chatroom also has helped build my confidence in listening, and more importantly, it reminded me that language learning is also about connection, reflection, and sharing.
Would you like to see the other chat rooms? Or are you only interested in the Travel Chatroom?
